General Information
A Brief Biography
I received my BS and Ph.D. degrees in Physics from the University of Rochester in 1964 and 1969, respectively.

I was with the research division of AT&T Bell Laboratories from 1969 through 1990, retiring in 1990 to contribute to education, first at West Virginia University and then in 1998 at Stevens Institute of Technology.

My research at Bell Laboratories started in the area of the emerging topic of digital signal processing systems and evolved into the general topic of advanced systems, particularly the interplay between emerging/evolving technologies and opportunities for disruptive system architectures. Complex systems enabled by the advancing technologies have been a primary interest for much of my career in academia.
Getting in Touch:
Those who know me understand that I am notoriously slow at responding to emails (a result of massive overloading of my email folder). I am somewhat more responsive to telephone calls. I am highly responsive to those who stop by to talk. For those of you on campus, my door is always open and appointments are not required. If I am in, you are welcome to come in and talk. My name is "Tewks."
Stop by to Visit
I have open office hours, with my door open except when in class, at meetings, or otherwise unavailable. If I'm with someone or not looking in your direction, simply knock and let me know you're there. If you can't reach me by phone before coming, call the ECE office (201 216-5623) and check whether I am available.

Canon F1 35mm camera
For many years, I have enjoyed repairing old classic cameras and using them to take photographs. The menu link to "photography" (under development) provides information on old cameras as well as some pictures taken.
